Michigan is in the midst of an economic crisis unlike any that has occurred before.  The state and this district needs a representative who has an understanding of the real hardships people now face and who has the knowledge to help navigate a new direction.

Growing up in Royal Oak during the 70’s and 80’s, I remember some of the difficulities created for my family whenever the auto industry hit hard times.  We always had the important things and some nice vacations; but there was always an underlying lack of money I could hear discussed. “No matter how hard I work I never seem to have two nickels on me”, was a phrase my father once said to me when I was older.

Being an autoworker was never easy.  But that’s what my father did, working night shifts to avoid layoff while my mother worked as a hair stylist.  They always insisted on focusing on my education, assuming I would attend college then graduate school and be able to have better career options then they had.

Despite all the problems that my family, Michigan and the manufacturing sector had in the decades I was a child, the basic dream of middle class living and a better future for your children remained a true promise.  Today that is no longer true.

  • Manufacturing jobs are leaving for overseas, most never to return.
  • Residents are leaving Michigan for better prospects in other states.
  • Costs for education are sykrocketing.
  • Homes are being lost and values are collapsing for those that remain.
  • Healthcare is unaffordable.

And so many other problems that need to be addressed.

While all this has been going on, the politicans in Lansing have argued with each other and engaged in showdown politics on all sorts of issues and with our budget.

It’s my hope that as state representative that I can run a campaign with the support of mostly small donors that represent the average citizen of Michigan.  The influence of money on politicans is enormous and being primarily supported by the narrow interests of PACs, interest groups, trade groups or others not representative of Michigan is of no benefit to the average citizen.  Unfortunately, interest groups can not be ignored, but the bulk of the support I seek is from the small donor base.

I have the experience and knowledge needed to help Michigan move forward, yet I also have the ordinary upbringing so I can truly relate to the real pain being felt by Michigan families today.  It’s that combination of knowledge and understanding that I believe make me the best candiate to represent the 27th district in Lansing.

If you're still not sure about supporting my candidacy then get to know me better by:

  1. Attend one of my 'Meet the candidate' events at restaurants and coffee shops in the district.
  2. Turn your radio to 690AM every Friday morning at 8am and listen to my weekly radio show.  I go over numerous topics of financial interest and you'll get a much better idea of how I think and what kind of representative I would be.
